Since July 2005, the Regional Sanitary Landfill of W.Macedonia has been serving the needs of the 60 municipalities of the Region (300,000 residents). More than 400 tonnes of urban waste are safely disposed of daily. The biogas and leachate monitoring systems are fully operating.
Mechanical treatment and recovery will increase the Landfill’s lifecycle to more than thirty years.
